“I cannot resist fooling around with our established certainties. It gives me great pleasure, for example, to deliberately mix up the second and third dimensions, flat and spatial, and to make fun of gravity” – M.C. Escher
This week we’ve selected designs that transform reality into something unpredictable, and most importantly turn the laws of physics into shifting modelling clay.
Some of the projects make use of simple resources to turn spaces into something completely different from the one they would embody without it.
From the strategic placement of mirrors and reflective surfaces to brilliant choices and placement of patterns, they amuse guests from the second they encounter them.
These intelligent designers expanded the spaciousness of the room, surprised guests with camouflaged figures and playful murals, and opened the structure of architecture itself into the landscape.
