Why patios? The word ‘patio’ in Spanish means an inner court open to the sky. The patio was a major feature in medieval Spanish architecture but has ancient roots in Middle East were it served to tame the changes in temperature and the position of the sun. It is a Spanish development of the Roman atrium and is comparable to the Italian cortile. Today patios can bring the missing nature to the experience.
Having an outdoor space gives guests the opportunity to relax after a long day of exploration (or work!). It is a place to slow down, breathe some fresh air, forget your worries and get away from the city’s accelerated nature.
