Bearing walls or load-bearing walls carry the load of floors and roof above in addition to their own weight. 
For that to happen, the wall is thickened in proportion to the weight it has to resist, resulting in a unique type of architecture that is normally found in Mediterranean-styled constructions. That thickness provides insulation and protection from the sun.

Most of them are either decidedly curvy or decidedly sharp and orthogonal, with hollow windows that follow the shape of their framing wall.

The majority of these classic load-bearing walls are also painted white, accentuating their natural shape and consequent interaction with natural light. White absorbs much less heat than any other colour, also providing insulation from heat. Maintaining a neutral-toned wall allows visitors to appreciate the slight differences in light and shadow, guiding them through three-dimensional polygons occupied by sculpted natural light.

Today we selected five projects that accentuated this architectural feature by complementing it and allowing the walls to guide the design.
